Forgotten Faces of Jamaica is a documentary project that explores the history and cultural contributions of the minorities of Jamaica. Most people are unaware of the existence of Jamaicans of European, Middle Eastern, East Indian, Jewish and Chinese heritage. This documentary explores the subject of racial frictions, European and Asian indentured servitude, and cultural contributions that have been incorporated into everyday Jamaican life. Reactions to Jamaicans of non-African heritage are often met with shock and disbelief and these reactions are often followed by questions: Who are these people? How did they get to Jamaica? Like the small unknown Jamaican German community of Seaford Town in the isolated mountains of rural Jamaica who were brought to Jamaica under mysterious circumstances and thought to be the descendants of indentured servants and German slaves tricked into working the fields of the wealthy former slave owners or the Jamaican Chinese minority in kingston. This documentary series explores the subjects of history, racial color lines and racial frictions in Jamaica, cultural retention and contributions that the minorities of Jamaica have within island culture and the thoughts and feelings of the modern day minority.

Coming to DVD this summer. Donations to help support this project and more projects aiming to provide education to the world about social issues within the west indies can be sent to: http://www.fracturedatlas.org/site/fiscal/profile?id=3267
